As a child I spent many hours on many days in this house, and I have a clear memory of how fascinated I was by the atmosphere of culture and art that reigned here. It was like entering a magical world: books that were at least as old as the painted walls, works of art, every object in there had a story to tell.
Today I am back, and with the same wonder I walked through the corridors and the rooms, and I came away with a new emotion: one of my small mosaics is now part of the Professor's huge collection - about 400 signed works of art.
To become part of this collection there is one small rule: the work must conform to the dimensions, 8x10 cm. Rather small, I thought to myself. What should I do?
Luckily, Vincent Van Gogh came to my rescue, and reminded me that I should try to do something that is new to me, in order to learn how to do it. All I had to do was look around me to find something in the beauty of natural surroundings. Out there, like a painting, the river Sile flows past the lawn outside the house and the willows gently caress it's waters.
Voilà.
