Omaggio a Tom Wesselmann. "Seascape Dropout" - 1982

To begin with, he made small, delicate compositions using collage with used postcards, tickets and all sorts of recycled paper. This was the first intimate step of a creative process that lead him to the famous series of the “Great American Nude”, oil paintings on canvas using well-defined flat color zones. This novelty brings together the classic modern style of Matisse and Modigliani with a very contemporary interpretation of art. He is best known for his famous nudes.
But Wesselmann he wasn’t simply a Pop Artist: he sought a strong visual impact with the use of color and shape, and his images were never artificial. He composed them gently and with irony, showing women with an erotic freshness and a delicate naturalism. Nude paintings have never been this snazzy before!
